Thousands came together with family and friends to watch the film, which honors the courageous soldiers of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army who fought bravely for peace and development.

This year represents a significant milestone—the 75th anniversary of New China. Coincidentally, it also marks the release of the second installment of the “Volunteer Army” trilogy, “The Volunteer Army: The Battle of Survival,” which portrays the fifth battle of the Korean War. The film highlights the heroic efforts of 25,000 soldiers from the 63rd Army as they faced nearly 50,000 “United Nations” troops in the intense battles of the Iron River region. Ultimately, these valiant warriors created an unyielding “Iron Wall,” compelling the enemy to negotiate and securing peace for the new nation.

On this National Day, every Chinese citizen enjoying peace and stability reflects on the sacrifices made by the Volunteer Army soldiers. The collaborative screening event, supported by viewing groups from 54 cities across 27 provinces, featured a special sequence of screenings numbered from 1 to 75, fostering a unique atmosphere of unity. Attendees expressed their excitement, highlighting the significance of sharing this experience with thousands of others, making it a truly memorable National Day celebration.

The audience comprised not only everyday citizens but also special groups including veterans, active military personnel, police officers, medical staff, and volunteers—true “guardians of the new era,” who continue the legacy of the Volunteer Army in safeguarding our homeland. In Wuxi, Korean War veteran Peng Ziqiang engaged with the audience, sharing poignant stories from his past. Families of other veterans tearfully honored the sacrifices of their loved ones, underscoring the importance of preserving their legacy.

Across cities like Anyang and Zhengzhou, local screenings allowed veterans to revisit their storied pasts, while others in Guiyang spontaneously sang patriotic songs in a touching tribute to national unity. These heartfelt moments throughout the various venues greatly enhanced the overall atmosphere of the 75 viewing events.

“The Volunteer Army: The Battle of Survival,” produced by China Film Group and other collaborators, is directed by Chen Kaige and is currently captivating audiences across the nation.
