According to a recent announcement shared on their official WeChat account, the country experienced a remarkable surge in international travel, with over 13.09 million travelers crossing borders during the holiday. This averages to an impressive 1.87 million travelers per day, reflecting a substantial 25.8% increase compared to last year.
October 5th stood out, witnessing a record peak of 2.035 million crossings in a single day. Breaking down the numbers, there were 7.589 million mainland residents, which marks a significant 33.2% year-on-year increase. Additionally, border control authorities inspected 574,000 transportation vehicles, vessels, and trains, which represents a 32.6% rise compared to 2022.
When discussing operations during this busy period, the representative emphasized the commitment to the “two announcements and one reminder” policy, designed to predict and report real-time traffic conditions at border checkpoints. They actively encouraged travelers to plan their trips accordingly and avoid peak times. The team closely monitored traffic flow, skillfully adjusting workforce deployment, enhancing security measures, and opening additional inspection channels to ensure a smooth and efficient process for both domestic and international travelers.
Furthermore, the representative underscored the critical role of interdepartmental collaboration in managing high traffic volumes, particularly during peak periods and in response to extreme weather impacts on border crossings. Overall, they reassured that all ports operated safely and efficiently throughout the holiday period, providing travelers with a seamless experience.
