He emphasized that the institution has remained committed to the dual principles of preserving the essence of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) while fostering innovation. Under this approach, the hospital has emerged as a leading specialty facility that successfully integrates TCM and Western medicine, particularly in the field of ophthalmology, while also promoting the development of related areas in medical care, research, and education.
In his speech, Deputy Director Cha Dezhong expressed his hopes that this milestone would serve as a new starting point for the Eye Hospital. He urged the institution to harness its unique TCM characteristics to further advance traditional Chinese ophthalmology, thus enhancing the overall capabilities of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and better addressing the public’s health needs.
Luo Zenggang, Director of the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shared his vision for the hospital to align its trajectory with the broader objectives of TCM development in Beijing. He encouraged the hospital to leverage its specialized strengths, continually driving internal progress, with the aim of becoming a leading domestic and internationally recognized ophthalmology center focused on TCM.
Huang Luqi, Deputy Director of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, underscored the importance of valuing the hospital’s historical achievements. He urged the Eye Hospital to use its 30th anniversary as a springboard to enhance its role within public TCM hospitals amidst a crucial phase of high-quality development. Huang emphasized the need for the hospital to lead efforts in advancing the national ophthalmology sector through deeper TCM reforms.
