Northern California Chinese School Speech Contest Pin Aitai Creativity

On the afternoon of October 5, the South Bay Chinese Education Center hosted the vibrant “Celebrate Double Tenth: I Love Taiwan” creative speech competition, attracting enthusiastic participants and a supportive audience. Organized by the Northern California Chinese School Federation and sponsored by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, the event featured 23 contestants hailing from various Chinese schools across the Bay Area.

Divided into categories for elementary A and B groups, middle school, and high school, the competitors showcased their love for Taiwan in their speeches. Many utilized props, sang songs, and displayed unique talents, sharing personal stories that highlighted the island’s exquisite cuisine, breathtaking landscapes, and the warm spirit of its people.

At the award ceremony, Federation President Lia Na-Ya expressed her pride in the event, the first of its kind hosted by the Federation. She aimed to capture the same excitement adults experience during the Double Tenth National Day celebrations and was moved by the creativity displayed by the young speakers. “It was wonderful to see how they incorporated their unique talents into their speeches, reflecting their understanding and love for Taiwan,” she noted.

Zhuang Ya-Shu, the director of the Chinese Education Center, also praised the impressive quality of the presentations. She thanked the Chinese School Federation for its commitment to uniting community schools and supporting overseas youth in learning Chinese. Emphasizing the significance of preserving traditional culture, she urged children to connect with their parents’ or grandparents’ homeland. “Simply stepping onto that stage and presenting yourselves makes each of you a winner!” she declared to all participants.

As the event concluded, winners for first, second, and third places, along with honorable mentions, were announced. The presenters included prominent figures such as Zhuang Ya-Shu, Fremont City Council member Shao Yang, International Leadership Foundation President Lin Mei-Lian, and several other notable community leaders.
