In a recent interview, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), shared insights on their generous contributions to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Karmajiji and Durumi, made in honor of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary. The donation, which included essential clothing and food items, highlights NLTF’s commitment to uplifting marginalized communities and promoting national unity.
“We must take a moment to remember our brothers and sisters who have faced displacement due to conflict and disaster,” Adeyanju emphasized. “As we celebrate Nigeria’s independence and in representation of President Bola Tinubu, we stand in solidarity with those who have been forced to leave their homes.”
He elaborated on the significance of the donation, stating, “This effort reflects our dedication to your well-being and our resolve to support vulnerable communities. Every Nigerian deserves dignity, hope, and a chance to rebuild their lives. We pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in our nation. May this anniversary be a starting point for new beginnings for all, guiding us towards a brighter future.”
Adeyanju expressed hope that their assistance would bring comfort to those affected. He also called for unity, urging support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration in its mission to build a better Nigeria where every citizen can thrive and every child can envision a hopeful future.
The contributions included a variety of items such as canvases, balls, T-shirts, towels, socks, bags of corn, millet, garri, rice, and detergents.
Mohammed S.D., the Acting Director of Parastatal representing the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, was present, alongside Dr. Cyprian Eddey Kpakolo, Director of Policy Implementation and Monitoring of Government Decisions. Both officials expressed gratitude for Adeyanju’s genuine concern for the camp residents, affirming that his visit underscores their shared commitment to their well-being.
Idris Ibrahim Halilu, a representative from the Durumi IDP camp, expressed heartfelt thanks for the support. “We extend our gratitude to the entire NLTF team for remembering us during this difficult time,” Halilu said. “Your kindness has rekindled joy and hope in our lives. As internally displaced persons, we’ve endured many challenges. Many have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods, but we hold on to hope. I arrived here at 62, and now I am 73. You haven’t forgotten us, and we believe that God will bless your efforts.”
Liatu Ayuba, the Women Leader of the Durumi IDP camp, echoed his sentiments, stating, “We are extremely thankful for the love shown today. Our children eagerly awaited your arrival. May God bless your efforts in supporting the poor and vulnerable. We hope you’ll continue to help those in need.”
Abdulazeez Yakubu, Secretary of the Karamajiji IDP camp, also voiced his gratitude and offered best wishes for future NLTF initiatives.
The generosity demonstrated by NLTF in this instance exemplifies their unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and championing meaningful causes across Nigeria.
