On October 15, during an official visit to Pakistan, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with President Asif Ali Zardari at the President’s Office.
In the meeting, Premier Li conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to Zardari. He spoke about the deep-rooted friendship between China and Pakistan, describing the two nations as long-standing neighbors, friends, partners, and brothers. He emphasized that the steadfast friendship between the countries remains robust and vibrant. Under the strategic leadership of President Xi and other Pakistani leaders, the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan has continued to deepen, yielding fruitful results in high-quality Belt and Road Initiative cooperation and solidifying public support for their friendship.
Li expressed China’s commitment to viewing its relationship with Pakistan from a strategic and long-term perspective. He highlighted that Pakistan is a priority area in China’s foreign policy and he looks forward to working together to elevate the friendship and cooperation between the two nations, ultimately bringing greater benefits to their peoples.
The Premier also stressed the importance of maintaining close high-level exchanges and sharing governance experiences. He reaffirmed China’s determination to firmly support Pakistan on issues concerning each other’s core interests. Furthermore, he expressed China’s eagerness to strengthen development strategy alignment, expand trade cooperation, and deepen cultural exchanges, ensuring that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor continues to serve as a flagship project for high-quality Belt and Road Initiative collaboration.
In response, President Zardari asked Premier Li to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi. He acknowledged the long history of friendship shared between Pakistan and China, which resonates deeply within the hearts of their peoples. Zardari noted that despite changing international dynamics, the relationship has remained strong and continues to evolve positively. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the One China principle, stating that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. Zardari similarly expressed Pakistan’s resolve to maintain high-level interactions with China, promote the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and enhance cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, and cultural fields to better benefit both nations. He assured that Pakistan will do everything possible to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects operating within Pakistan.
