By hannover-web.com During a press conference on October 12th, it was announced that the 34th Dalian Marathon is set to take place on October 20th, with 30,000 runners gathering in the coastal city to experience its unique charm. For the first time, this marathon will offer rewards for runners who finish the full marathon in under three hours.
Co-hosted by the Liaoning Provincial Sports Bureau and the Dalian Municipal Government, and certified by the Chinese Athletics Association as an A1-class marathon, this event has evolved over the past 30 years into one of the most influential sports events in northern China.
Li Xuesong, chairman of the Dalian Sports Industry Group, shared that this year’s marathon includes a full marathon, half marathon, and a fun run. The event will incorporate advanced concepts from domestic and international races while embracing Dalian’s unique urban culture. The goal is to create a high-quality competition and tell Dalian’s story, inviting both domestic and international runners to experience the excitement of “Encounter Dalian, Infinite Thrills.”
Li also highlighted several key features of this year’s marathon. Notably, they have introduced a “Hundred Groups Race” for the first time, along with exclusive rewards for runners achieving a sub-3 hour marathon finish. Additionally, there will be categorized divisions for half marathon participants based on their performances, enhancing their overall race experience.
At the press conference, the “Break 3 Gear” was unveiled as a surprise reward for participants who complete the marathon with a net time of under three hours. This specially designed black hoodie features the marathon logo on the front and a dynamic “RUN THREE” print on the back, serving as a distinctive symbol of honor for this year’s sub-3 runners.
Zhang Xiaofeng, deputy secretary-general of the Dalian Municipal Government, emphasized the scenic beauty of the marathon’s route. Participants will start near Dalian Bay, able to admire seagulls, sailboats, and the city’s romantic and open atmosphere. Along the way, runners will enjoy stunning views of golden ginkgo leaves and blue seas, as well as the classical and Gothic-style architecture of Zhongshan Square. The route also highlights the rapid development along People’s Road and Zhongshan Road. Furthermore, participants can indulge in local seafood delicacies like oysters, crabs, and grilled squid, immersing themselves in Dalian’s rich culture and vibrant atmosphere.
Currently, preparations for the marathon are proceeding smoothly.
