Foreign consular delegations and business circles in Hong Kong visited Qufu Confucius Temple to experience the profound Confucian culture

On October 24, in Qufu, Shandong Province, Benjamin, a representative of the Hong Kong Swiss Chamber of Commerce, enthusiastically shared his experience visiting the Confucius Temple. “It’s such a beautiful place, and the architecture brings a sense of tranquility,” he remarked.

A delegation of foreign representatives and business leaders, organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, visited the Confucius Temple on the 23rd as part of their initiative “Exploring Shandong: Promoting High-Level Cooperation between Shandong and Hong Kong.” The group included consuls and representatives from various countries, leaders of foreign chambers of commerce, and executives from multinational companies and financial institutions, all exploring the profound essence of Confucian culture firsthand.

On that morning, the delegation witnessed a solemn gate-opening ceremony outside the temple before stepping into this historic site that has stood for millennia. The deep historical significance of the temple left the participants in awe. As Benjamin commented, “Walking among these buildings and artifacts that have been preserved for hundreds of years felt like I was experiencing a journey back in time.”

As they roamed through the temple’s courtyards and viewed the inscriptions on various stone tablets, the visitors gained insight into the depth and breadth of Confucian philosophy. Being a representative site of the birthplace of Confucianism, the unique cultural significance and spiritual quest embodied within the Confucius Temple were refreshing to the international visitors. David, a representative of the Hong Kong New Zealand Chamber of Commerce, expressed to the reporter, “Everyone has heard of Confucianism, but to see its birthplace in person is truly amazing.”
