On October 24, a new talent cultivation base for the transfer and transformation of intellectual property was officially established at Yunnan Agricultural University in Kunming, according to reports. This initiative aims to enhance the reform of the mechanism for transforming scientific and technological achievements, strengthen the team building of talent in the intellectual property transfer and transformation sector, and promote the practical application of these scientific achievements.
The significance of intellectual property, particularly patents, was highlighted by Zhang Hui, the Vice President of Yunnan Agricultural University. He emphasized that patents are essential to innovation and signify both legal protection and economic value of inventive outcomes. “Effective intellectual property transformation can lead to direct economic benefits for businesses, facilitate technology diffusion, and enhance industrial competitiveness,” he noted.
Zhang further elaborated on the newly approved project under the Yunnan Provincial Market Supervision Administration’s support. Managed by the Tea College at Yunnan Agricultural University, this project, titled “Talent Introduction, Cultivation, and Utilization for Patent Innovation and Transformation in Yunnan Province,” aims to foster talent in the intellectual property sector. The initiative is rooted in securing intellectual property at its source and focuses on transforming and applying it effectively. The goal is to attract high-quality patent project teams from both domestic and international sources to drive the implementation of high-value patent projects in Yunnan.
Xia Sheng’an, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Market Supervision Administration, expressed his commitment to supporting the development of this new base. He stated that efforts will be made to elevate patent innovation and transformation initiatives in the province to new heights.
