Mighty Lions and Nightmare from the Seahawks

The Detroit Lions, part of the NFC North division in the NFL, have a rich history spanning 94 years, yet they have never had an opportunity to compete for a championship title. This season, however, they are showing promise with a record of three wins and one loss out of their first four games.

Currently, four teams in the NFC share a record of 3-1, including the Lions, the Washington Commanders, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Leading the Lions is their 29-year-old quarterback Jared Goff, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall. On the evening of September 30, at 8:15 PM, Goff led his team to a 42-29 victory against the Seattle Seahawks in front of 66,658 fans at Ford Field in Michigan.

Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Goff is a University of California alumnus. He was selected as the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. On January 30, 2021, the Rams traded Goff to the Detroit Lions.

That night marked Goff’s 121st career start, and he achieved an impressive feat by not throwing any interceptions. He was sacked three times for a loss of 26 yards but connected on 18 of 18 pass attempts, with a longest throw of 70 yards, accumulating a total of 292 passing yards. He also threw two touchdown passes and worked with two teammates on 26 rushing attempts, gaining 118 yards with three rushing touchdowns.

In doing so, Goff set a record for the highest completion percentage by a quarterback in a single game, finishing with a perfect 100%.

The Lions held the ball for 25 minutes and 56 seconds during the game, scoring at least seven points in each quarter and leading 21-7 at halftime.
