On September 29, the 2024 Brazil International Chinese Education Volunteer Training program launched at the Confucius Institute of São Paulo State University, bringing together nearly 40 volunteers from various Confucius Institutes and language organizations throughout Brazil for a dynamic two-day event.
During the opening ceremony, Wang Zhiwei, the education counselor from the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, delivered an inspiring speech. He was joined by Luis Antonio Paulino, the Brazilian director of the Confucius Institute at São Paulo State University, and Ye Dan, the Chinese director. Both Wang and Paulino encouraged the volunteers to take advantage of the momentous occasion marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, along with the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute brand. They underscored the significance of addressing both opportunities and challenges in the realm of international Chinese education, with the goal of enhancing Chinese language instruction, promoting Chinese culture, and deepening exchanges between China and Brazil.
Qu Kexin, a representative from the volunteer group, shared her personal experiences to capture the essence of volunteering, articulating the hopes and aspirations of international Chinese educators.
The training program encompasses a range of practical topics, including the prospects and challenges of Chinese education in Brazil, cultural teaching and dissemination in the modern era, skills for effective cross-cultural communication and overseas media operation, along with safety awareness and stress management tailored to Brazil. Ye Dan emphasized that this training would equip volunteers with insights into the evolving trends and latest developments in international Chinese education, fostering collaboration and resource sharing among the Confucius Institutes in Brazil.
