His home turned out to be the burial place of the leader of Hamas. A Gazan man was shocked when he saw the picture of Sinwa before his death- How could he be there-

In a recent report by the BBC, a displaced Gaza man named Ashraf Abo Taha discovered something shocking on social media – the burial site of Hamas leader Sinwar was actually his home in Rafah. Taha had to flee his residence of 15 years back in May due to the ongoing conflict and relocated to Khan Younis. He expressed his bewilderment at how Sinwar ended up there and emphasized that neither he nor his family had any ties to the situation.

Taha described his reaction upon recognizing part of his destroyed house in the footage captured by an Israeli drone. “I was shocked,” he recalled. The Israeli military had released drone footage indicating that Sinwar was hiding in a partially destroyed house before he was killed.

In an interview with BBC Arabic’s Gaza Lifeline radio, Taha explained that he evacuated Rafah on May 6 after the Israeli government ordered residents to leave and began actions against Hamas fighters. Since that time, he hadn’t heard anything regarding his former home.

Taha’s daughter was the first to show him the clips circulating on social media that allegedly depicted the final moments of Sinwar’s life, describing the distinctive features of their house in Rafah. Initially skeptical, Taha only believed it when his brother confirmed that the house in the video was indeed his.

“My reaction was, ‘Yes, that’s my house,’” Taha said, reflecting on the pictures. “I was in disbelief.”

He reiterated that he has no idea why Sinwar was there or how he got to that house, clarifying that “my brothers, sons, and I have never been involved in this matter.”

The BBC verified that the images and footage Taha provided do coincide with the house where Sinwar was killed, though they could not confirm Taha’s ownership of the property.

Taha shared that the house was built with the help of his siblings, valued at 200,000 shekels (approximately $53,854.80), and it was in good condition when he left. “What has happened makes me very sad,” he lamented. “The house I built, along with all my savings, has disappeared. Only God can compensate us for this loss.”
