On October 16, during the opening of the Global Ecological Governance (Nansen) Conference in Beijing, a new initiative called the “Headquarters + Base” development model was introduced to enhance the high-quality growth of the flower industry in Fengtai District, a region with an 800-year history in floral development. This innovative approach aims to promote resource sharing, complementarity, and targeted collaboration by positioning the Beijing International Flower Science and Technology Center at its core and partnering with over 20 strategic cities and enterprises to advance ecological initiatives and industrial growth.
The three-day conference brought together hundreds of industry experts, top scholars, and notable figures from both national and international sectors to discuss emerging trends, technologies, and policies in fields such as garden city construction and biodiversity protection. With the aim of integrating innovation chains, industrial chains, financial chains, and talent chains, participants sought to identify new ways to propel the industry forward.
During the conference, Fengtai District signed agreements with government officials and outstanding business leaders from regions such as Chuxiong in Yunnan Province, Baotou in Inner Mongolia, and Zhangwan District in Shiyan, Hubei Province. These partnerships will focus on collaboration in areas like flower technology innovation, production processing, and market sales, intending to extend and broaden the flower industry supply chain while enhancing its depth and outreach.
Building on its traditional strengths in the flower industry, Fengtai District is committed to the development of a new flower economy driven by technology. The district plans to unveil the nation’s first flower data compilation case and establish a comprehensive service platform for national flower data at the International Flower Development Conference. Furthermore, a collaboration agreement will be signed between the Beijing Flower Group and the Beijing International Big Data Exchange, marking significant strides in promoting a technology-led floral economy and building a distinctive industrial cluster.
Fengtai District is also leveraging its natural resources, such as mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, and grasslands, to continue enhancing the concepts of forest and garden cities. The district aims to create a new brand for garden cities by developing the vast Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park and transforming Nansen into a new landmark for the capital. Initiatives also include the establishment of the country’s first garden-style financial business district, where green development has become a defining characteristic. Moreover, plans are in place for the creation of a water-friendly green corridor along the Yongding River, fostering vibrant ecosystems where birds fly, fish leap, and frogs croak, while promoting a brand for green road construction that aims for harmonious coexistence and shared experiences among all ages.
