As we delve into the importance of autumn grain procurement, it’s clear that this period is a pivotal time for food sourcing in the nation. Recently, the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration has granted approval for the China Grain Reserves Corporation to initiate the implementation plan for the minimum rice purchase price in eligible areas across Jiangsu and Henan provinces.
In this endeavor, the China Grain Reserves Corporation has called upon its subsidiaries and directly affiliated enterprises to strengthen their organizational efforts regarding the minimum purchase price. They are encouraged to enhance communication and collaboration with local party committees and governments, ensuring they are fully prepared in terms of storage capacity, personnel, funding, quality inspections, and equipment. The goal is to have “depots ready for grain, personnel ready for grain, and funds ready for grain.” Furthermore, they are tasked with establishing and reasonably distributing procurement points in advance, following the prescribed procedures to obtain timely approvals for storage and procurement operations, thus effectively implementing the government’s policies aimed at supporting farmers.
Looking ahead to 2024, the country will continue to uphold the minimum purchase price policy for rice. The minimum prices have been set at 127 yuan, 129 yuan, and 131 yuan for early indica, mid-late indica, and japonica rice per 50 kilograms, respectively. As we enter the harvest season, major production areas are anticipating a significant collection of crops. In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the harvest of mid-season rice will peak in October, while the primary harvest time for southern double-crop late rice is expected to occur from late October to early November.
