Sebastian Stan said playing young Trump was -all based on intuition-

Sebastian Stan, best known for his role as the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has taken on a diverse array of characters throughout his career. However, one of his most attention-grabbing performances is undoubtedly his portrayal of former President Donald Trump in the film “The Apprentice.”

In “The Apprentice,” Jeremy Strong plays Roy Cohn, Trump’s former lawyer and confidant, while Maria Bakalova takes on the role of Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump.

To prepare for his role as Trump, Stan immersed himself in early news footage and documentaries featuring the former president. In an interview with CNN, he shared, “I think intuition is the foundation of everything, along with collaboration. You have to dive in and see what you can bring to the story and the character without judgment, without all the good and bad and ugly.”

For Stan, the noise surrounding Trump’s campaign next month is something he consciously chose to distance himself from. “I had to step away from the fears and all the noise that surrounds us right now,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Strong has been deeply researching Roy Cohn to effectively embody the character, absorbing a substantial amount of footage. “You become completely fascinated until it overwhelms you, and in some way, you have to let it out. The way he sees people, his behavior, those strange eyes, and the chaos, self-loathing, hatred, and hardships within him.”

In May, CNN reported that Trump’s team was considering legal action against the release of “The Apprentice.” According to Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, “This film is a piece of garbage that solely spreads debunked lies.”

Director Ali Abbasi revealed that external pressures around the film’s release were not the most significant challenge he faced while making “The Apprentice.” He noted, “I have to say that one of the most difficult things for me was figuring out how to organize this story; many characters felt very important.”

Ultimately, Abbasi chose to center the film on the relationship between the characters portrayed by Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong.
