On October 27th, the Second World Sinology Conference kicked off in Nanping, Fujian Province, under the theme “Understanding Chinese Civilization and Promoting Global Modernization Together.” Co-hosted by the China International Communication Association and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the event gathered over 200 representatives from 60 countries.
A senior official from the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China delivered a keynote address, highlighting that Chinese civilization is characterized by its historical emphasis on harmony, its inclusive spirit, its values of self-improvement and altruism, and a commitment to the common good. The official underscored the pursuit of lasting peace, openness, inclusivity, shared prosperity, and justice as core principles of modernity. They expressed a desire to enhance dialogue and collaboration with sinologists worldwide, aiming to foster high-quality development in international cultural exchanges and research in Sinology, thus contributing wisdom and strength to countries on their paths to modernization.
Attending international guests echoed these sentiments, acknowledging that Chinese civilization is a priceless treasure for humanity. They expressed their eagerness to actively disseminate Chinese culture and to work together on implementing three major global initiatives, striving to build a better world collaboratively.
